Though Atlanta has seen its share of violence and inequity over time, today it brims with reminders that there is another way. Get inspired while you’re visiting for the 2017 Rotary International Convention from 10 to 14 June. Take a short walk from the convention center to the Center for Civil and Human Rights. There, you can see the handwritten notes, speeches, and sermons of civil rights leader Martin Luther King Jr., experience an interactive 1960s-era lunch counter “sit-in,” and learn more about persecuted groups all over the world. A streetcar will take you to the Martin Luther King Jr...

What a great meeting we had on Wednesday.  It is always special when the meeting is related to Youth Exchange.  We had all the Kraan’s present along with visiting exchange students.  Welcome all.

Mental Health First Aid training.  P3 Sports & Recovery are advertising the partnership with the club.  The club has sponsored Annemarie from P3 to be trained as a Mental First Aid Trainer. The first course is on the 12 & 13th December. It is nearly booked out.  Members from Narre Warren will attend as they are running the forum next year. There will be articles in the local paper.  The club will be able to sponsor people to do the course with no cost to the club.  Training is also happening for the Preventing Youth Suicide Facebook page.  Viv and Jim thanked everyone for their support and how much they enjoyed being members of Berwick.

The STAR program on 3rd December at Nossal High School.  It is not just for newer members.  Morning tea and a light lunch provided. Alot has changed in Rotary over the years so even if you have been around a while please come along.  Computers will be available to learn about the Rotary Web Sites.

Art Screen hire is going well.  There is a delivery on the 1st January to Sorrento.  If you normally cannot help due to work commitments, here is you chance to see what goes on.  This delivery is worth $2500 to the club.  See Laury if interested.

This months Farmers & Craft Market went well.  There were over 40 stalls.  Approximately $2500 profit.  The mens shed BBQ made $240.  No one claimed the voucher advertised on Casey Radio for a BBQ item.  Thanks to all the workers.  Watch out on Facebook for David Button’s photos of the stalls.

Alex is an impressive young man who is our sponsored outbound Youth Exchange Student for 2017.  He will represent himself, the club and Australia for his year in Switzerland.  He gave us a comprehensive presentation about himself, his family, school, the club and district and Australia in general.

He currently attends Berwick Grammar School and wants to be an Engineer in the future.  Alex lives with his father Ron, step mum Rose and brothers Briz & Zyjhan.  Alex likes to ride his motorbike and enjoys athletics and rugby league.  He learnt about exchange from cousin Dan Kraan who went to America.

Alex wants to learn German and go snowboarding.  He leaves for Switzerland on the 20th January and will attend German Language School when he arrives.

David Collyer presented Alex a backpack and Australian flag from the club.  Alex thanked the club for this amazing opportunity.  We look forward to his reports and wish him all the best for the year.  Alex has the full support of the club in this worthwhile program.

Lisa's Week
Lisa had a great time attending the Colour Run at Flemington Racecourse.  She ran 5km and had paint thrown on her at regular intervals.

She has been packing for her move to the Marshall’s and cannot believe how much stuff she has.

A package from Germany was well received, especially the food, even if the bread doesn’t go with Vegemite.

Lisa was surprised and proud to receive an English award in front of the whole Senior School at assembly.

The word for the day is aufgeregt, which means excited.
Happy Snaps
Lots of Kraan's and Youth Exchange people
