The General Manager of The Rotary Foundation/Chief Development Officer is responsible for the effective management and operations of The Rotary Foundation. Working closely with the executive management team and Rotary leadership, this position will oversee the fund development, polio eradication and partnership/sponsorship activities within the organization. The position reports to the General Secretary and will ensure that strategies are aligned to achieve the goals of The Rotary Foundation, which include annual fund development goals in excess of US$300 million dollars. The leader will...

From the August 2016 issue of The Rotarian It’s 3 a.m. on a Sunday, and Katheryne Rosa Barazorda Cuellar is up, preparing to work in her mother’s soup stall in the small Peruvian town of Anta, near the Inca capital of Cusco. Smart and seemingly indefatigable, she has a quick smile and infectious laugh. Rosa is studying to be a chemical engineer, and she has unmistakable talent and drive. She needs them. Poverty, gender bias, and violence darken the lives of many young Peruvian women, including her. Rosa is lucky, though. Her family supports her. And for the past four years,  so has Visionaria...

More than 6,000 Rotary members in 154 countries reported on their experiences with the new grant model as part of an evaluation during the 2015-16 Rotary year. The results will help us improve the grant process and learn what impact the Foundation's global grants have on our areas of focus. Among the key findings: 90 percent of respondents support the grant model; 86 percent see it as an improvement over the former model. Grant activity and the average grant award continue to increase each year. Rotary members want more resources to help them apply for grants and design sustainable projects...

Club Meeting 27th July 2016
What a wonderful youth orientated evening we had.  The buzz in the room was amazing.  This is Rotary is all about.

President Mark and Isobel attended the joint Rotaract clubs of Casey-Cardinia and Peninsula changeover.  Incoming President Matt said how they were looking forward to working together with our club.

Treasurer Wendy asked could everyone please pay their bills.  Also please no foreign coins in the fines, it makes it hard to count.
Please put in apologies and guests at attendance@rotaryberwick.org in a timely fashion, it makes it much easier for the catering.

Viv Armstrong spoke about how Mental Health First Aid course team training will held at Aussie Jones' premises. 60 people from sporting clubs with the help of the Beyond Blue money will be trained. 10 Rotary Clubs will be asked to send one member to train and then send it back to our area.  What a brilliant initiative.

Terry Carmichael reported that the Farmers & Craft Market had 24 paying stalls,  385 paying customers with  $1500 profit.  Not bad for a terrible day.

Darius warned everyone that spam emails have been sent asking people to delete their emails.  PLEASE do not click on anything that asks if you want to delete emails.   It may do bad things to your email accounts.
RYPEN
Sarah Arnett and David Somers were very worthy representatives of the club at the recent RYPEN camp.  (Rotary Youth Program for Enrichment).

The weekend consisted of workshops and activities aimed at public speaking, leadership, self confidence and team building.  The project topic was bullying and the students had to solve the problem as groups. Bush walks, the flying fox, rock climbing and wheelchair basketball were the fun if somewhat challenging parts of the weekend.

Two very proud mothers watched as the students presented themselves with confidence and appreciation of being chosen for this experience.
Luc Returns from Switzerland

Luc Heller and his family, father Daniel, mother Veronique and brothers Joel & Yves were welcomed as honoured guests.  Luc spoke of how how he has changed since his year with us in 2015-2016.  He has settled in well to home and school and matured in his outlook.  He has joined the Rotex group and goes on their camps.  He has one more year of school and then Mllitary Service after that.

Daniel Heller spoke on the family trip driving from Perth to Broome.  They travelled 4000 km which would cover Switzerland 10 times. The wine, the beach, the cold and the red sand were the most memorable things.  He thanked the Double, Caulfield and Nutter families for looking after them so well with their time staying in this area.

Veronique Heller thanked the host parents and club for looking after him so well and allowing him to experience so much.  She is a member of the RC of Aarau Alpenzeiger.  It is a young club of 12 years with 45 members, average age 47 with 15 ladies.  She was happy to take a banner back to her club as they have a new meeting room where it can be displayed.
Lisa Arrives from Germany
A merry group got up early and arrived to meet the 5.20 am flight of our inbound student Lisa Bayer from Germany.  She arrived full of smiles looking forward to her year with us.

It is a tradition to present our exchange students with a football scarf.
Host dad Geoff won this time with Richmond for Lisa.
Dan is sad that Essendon did not rate a mention.
Not sure if Lisa knew what it was all about.

Di Double put out the challenge for every Rotarian in the club to get to know Lisa better by taking her out and about.  It could be home for dinner, out with the grandchildren or even the football.  Lisa is part of the whole club, not just the host parents.  Be warned she is making a list.
BBQ Berwick Primary School
Well done to Rob Wingrave, Julie Allgood, Mark Caulfield & Alf Giesen for cooking over 1000 sausages to help the school raise funds for Para Olympian Emma Booth.  Below is a letter from the Principal at Berwick Primary:
