Charity Golf Day 5th May 2017
The annual golf day was an outstanding success.  15 teams entered which included our major sponsors, The City of Casey, St John of God Hospital Berwick, Bendigo Community Bank Beaconsfield and Berwick Motor Group.

The weather was very kind to us all day.  The golfers and Rotarians alike enjoyed the gourmet BBQ before hitting off.  A great turnout of Rotarians on the day ensured the day went off without a hitch.  Rotarians contributed in many ways.  Jobs included: planning committee, raffle prize donations, setting up, manning holes, BBQ duties, registration, selling raffle tickets, looking after our guests and sponsors.  A huge thank you to all involved.

Mike Mc Kay of the Oarsome Foursome rowing team was an outstanding guest speaker.  The quality of his talk was matched by the silence in the room and the questions following it.  Mike spoke of his time leading up to his rowing career and the highs and lows of Olympic dreams.  His main thoughts on success were in the planning, technique, surrounding yourself with the right people and finally believing in yourself.

Planning is under way for next year. Save the date, it’s the Friday 16th March 2018.

District Assembly May 21st
No one wants to go to yet another Rotary meeting right? Well think about this one because there is some useful information and friendships to be had here!
District assembly is fast approaching and should be a priority for most of the Club.  In years past Berwick would have a contingent of incoming office bearers, board members and club members, old and new, in attendance.

Whether you have attended District Assembly years ago or last year, Rotary is evolving and there are new things to learn each and every year.  This is our opportunity to learn what the District has to teach us.

We are part of an international organisation that spends millions of man hours and thousands of dollars revising, updating and, most of all, considering input from the grass roots to help strengthen and grow our fabulous organization.

There will be the avenues of service showcase where people who have never attended a district assembly can see what we do and why we do it, rather than think all we need to do is fundraise. There will be a IT session which every member could benefit from and lots of information beyond the scope of what we can impart within a club meeting.

Worth considering if Sunday the 21st of May is occupied!

Email David Button or Secretary Adrian if you want to go. We will be working on car pooling.

Alex Kraan Youth Exchange Report 21/3/17 – 20/4/17
See below for Alex's latest comprehensive report.  His German is getting better, eating lots of fondue and generally having a great time.  Having a host family that runs a circus means a different way of life.
