Club Meeting 26th October 2016
It was great to be back at Holm Park again after a good turnout at the Cluster meeting with Endeavour Hills last week.  Chairman Di did a stirling job of keeping the meeting on track.

Laury reported that the art screens going well.  The moving team are no longer taking the screens up any stairs. The venue must supply people to move them.  It has meant that our crew has to be on time.  We have just received a sizable cheque from the East St Kilda Primary School.

Mr Tim Moore spoke about the training day on the 10th December.  It is for all members, not just newer ones.

Sharmaine, as the friends of Rotary person asked that she please be let know if anyone is ill or needs some assistance.

David Collyer reported that the Mock Interviews were successful at Hillcrest.  The students were mostly of a high standard.  Thanks for Suzanne Bester from Hillcrest and all the members who contributed.
A special thanks to Sandi Tarant who went back a few days later to speak to a class about interviews, CV’s and all things to do with finding a job.

Mr Tim Moore spoke about the training day on the 10th December.  It is for all members, not just newer ones.

The progressive dinner is coming along with the venues and guests sorted.

Berwick Springs View Club
We welcomed Patricia Woodruff and Jan Williamson from the Berwick Springs View Club.

VIEW stands for the Voice, Interests and Education of Women.  www.view.org.au

It is a leading women's national volunteer organisation, providing the opportunity for women from all walks of life to meet regularly, establish lasting friendships and help disadvantaged Australian children through supporting the work of children’s charity, The Smith Family

They are a very active group which was charted in 2003.  They sponsor 3 “Learning for Life” students.  This provides support in the form of access to literacy programs delivered by mentoring and tutoring, along with financial support for essential school items such as uniforms, books and excursions.

It was heartening to hear about something close to Rotary’s ideals.  The Smith Family commenced very like Rotary, that a number of business men got together to make a difference.
Thank you to Patricia for letting us know about what you do.

Farmers & Craft Market
The last Farmers & Craft Market was not a good one.  45 stall holders booked, 39 turned up which wasn’t too bad for the weather.  Terry thanked everyone who helped on the day.  There will be more stallholders next month when the seasonal ones come back.

Please get onto the Facebook page and share the good news around. https://www.facebook.com/caseyberwickfarmersmarket

Terry spoke with Mike Tyler (CEO City of Casey) about another market which was on the same day.  It will not clash with ours from now on.  Also discussed was the poor condition of the market area and surrounds.  Mike said it will be fixed within two weeks.
Congratulations and Thank You's
Thank you card from PP Bill
To the members of the Rotary Club of Berwick,
Thank you for your kind thought and the fruit basket while I was ill
Bill Minns

Last year Bill Minns was inducted into the Rotary Hall of Fame.  He has made it into the RI newsletter for over 50 years of service.  Congratulations Bill.

Betty Funston would like to thank members for their kind wishes, emails, cards visits and phone calls while she was recovering from her argument with the fuchsias.

Congratulations to Diana Gomez-Fullaway for gaining a prize for a speech with the Toast Masters Association

Banners and Uniforms
Public Image Director Jane has done a great job sourcing items to let the public know what we are about.
There are 2 table cloths, 4 tear drop banners and a pull up banner.  2 tear drop banners are for the market and the other 2 for general use.

They will be stored at Jane & Tim’s business and can be got from there when needed.

Sample sizes of the uniforms will be at the 9th November meeting to try on.  All are optional and you can but as little of as much as you like.  Members will be invoiced for the purchases.

Lisa's Week
Lisa has been busy as usual but didn’t talk about school very much except she has exams coming up.  She very much enjoyed the Youth Exchange Camp where they spoke about the Ride to Conference and their performance at the conference.

Lisa visited Phillip Island and the penguins with the Dutch Exchange Student’s host family.

Lisa watched Crocodile Dundee with school friends and went to DIK (Donations in Kind) with the Doubles and Rosa from Austria.

The words for the week is Austausch Schüler which means Exchange Student.
Vale Cyril Molyneux
It is with sadness to report the passing of our 1971-72 President Cyril Molyneux. A Paul Harris Fellow, as well as a veteran of the WWII bombing in Darwin, PP Cyril was aged 98 and lived for many years next to the Berwick RSL in Langmore Lane.

The Funeral will be held at Tobin Brothers Expressions of Life Chapel, 21 Lyall Rd, Berwick on FRIDAY (Nov. 4, 2016) commencing at 2 p.m.
A Private Cremation will follow.  Refreshments will be served at the conclusion of the Service
Working Bee at the Gordyn's
Geoff Double is coordinating a working bee will be held on Saturday 3rd December to help tidy up Laury & Kate Gordyn’s place after the big storm which brought down many trees.

All hands on deck for people who can safely use a chainsaw, wheelbarrow’s, rakes etc.  Food will be involved.  It will be good to help someone who has helped so many of us over the years.
