Rotary International -Presidential message for the Month of November 2017
Ian H.S. Riseley
President 2017-18
In many ways, The Rotary Foundation is an invisible presence in our clubs. Most of what we do in our clubs and our districts, on a weekly basis, we do without the active involvement of the Foundation. But our Foundation is invisible in our clubs in the same way the foundation of a building is invisible when you're in it: Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it's not holding you up.
On Thursday 9th November, we received news from Ursula Gervasi, Executive Director
of Rotary Youth Exchange Switzerland and Lichtenstein, that our very own Alex Kraan
had met with RI President Ian Riseley on that very day, and that on Friday, he was to go to Geneva, to participate in the Rotary Day at the United Nations in Geneva. Alex is among twenty exchange students selected from a group of eighty to participate in this very

It’s that time of year when we think about the festive season, the season of giving.
Each year the club supports Rotary Foundation by getting orders from family and friends. I will be putting in our order soon. You can order by emailing me at di.scheepers@gmail.com. I will also be circulating an order sheet at Rotary meetings.
For every Cake or steamed pudding, the Rotary Club of Berwick will receive $2.20 and $2.00 will go to Rotary Foundation.

All Rotarians in attendance are invited to participate, for a small fee, in the Joker's Wild session at each meeting for a chance to win a cash jackpot by drawing the "Joker" from a deck of cards. This week we had 4 new Rotarians who could take part in Joker's Wild.
Guest Speaker, Dr Vinay Kumar was asked to draw a ticket from Sandi's black bag of tickets. He drew Sam McCurdy's lucky number.
At the back of the Rotary Club Handbook there is a heading Acronyms. If you don’t have one of these handbooks or are new to reading about Rotary, these acronyms can perhaps cause confusion.
