FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK - 1 November, 2017
At our Club meeting on Wednesday night, I had the immense honour and privilege to induct
four new members to Rotary.
Some sixty members and guests were in attendance for this very special occasion.

Our new Rotarians Gary Castricum, David Cutler, Gaetano Fina and Cheryl Zuhlsdorff are well versed in the principles of goodwill and service having already practiced these in their business, professional or personal lives. They will no doubt be added sources of strength to our Club and Rotary in general. I wish them all many happy and useful years in Rotary.

BUNJIL PLACE COMES TO LIFE
The impressive architecture and the name, Bunjil Place, were inspired by stories of Bunjil (also referred to as ‘Bundjil’) by our First Nation’s people. These are extremely special, parable-like stories about Bunjil, the ‘creator’.

CELEBRATIONS THIS WEEK
Celebrations this week

Happy Birthday to PP Rob Taylor (6th November), Jane Moore (7th November) and Dan Kraan (8th November).

Congratulations to PP Laury Gordyn who was inducted into Rotary on 3rd November 1994.

Joker's Wild
While some clubs raise funds at meetings from selling raffle tickets, the Rotary Club of Berwick holds what is known as a Joker’s Wild session. All Rotarians in attendance are invited to participate, for a small fee, in the Joker's Wild session at each meeting for a chance to win a cash jackpot by drawing the "Joker" from a deck of cards. Each week the member with the winning ticket has the opportunity to draw one card from the deck. The jackpot increases if the Joker is not drawn and the number of cards in the deck reduces after each draw, thus increasing the chance of winning the jackpot at the next draw.
