Annual Bowls Match - RC Berwick v RC Monbulk
May 08, 2024 6:00 pm - 9:00 pm

It's time for the 52nd annual Lawn Bowls match against the Rotary Club of Monbulk and we need all the help we can get!

This event is hosted annually on a rotational basis between the two clubs and was first held in the early 1970s. Two Rotarian friends at Berwick Club, Funno's father and Bob Gray, after Bob had moved to Monbulk and purchased the Monbulk Butcher's shop, got together and floated the idea that it would be great it the Berwick and Monbulk Rotary Clubs could meet together on annual basis alternating between the two clubs and the common thread was built around a bowls challenge.

This is a great night out to play against a friendly bunch of Rotarians and non-Rotarians. Knowledge of the game is useful but certainly not a prerequisite to having a good time and enjoying a bit of fun on the pitch. Please wear flat shoes on the rink.

Monbulk Bowls Club: 11 Moores Rd Monbulk

Meal and bowls included.

Dinner will be served at 6:15pm and will be alternating Roast of the Day with vegetables / Fish and chips with salad. Please advise of any special dietary requirements.

Bowls will commence at 6:45pm

Car pooling may be organised for transport.

Please register early as we need an idea of numbers by Friday May 3rd.

When registering, please include in the comments if you wish to car pool or will be meeting us at Monbulk.

Car poolers can meet at Holm Park Reserve for departure at 5:30pm

For those going direct to Monbulk, please aim to be there by 6:00pm

Dinner/ bowls and tea / coffe are included in the price.

If you wish to attend for dinner but not bowl, theer is s reduced price of $20. Please advise by email.

Rotary World Of Difference - Victoria Police Legacy - Cambodia Tour
Sep 18, 2024 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

This week we are visited by guest speakers from Victoria Police Legacy

Rotary World of Difference (WOD) responds to local areas of needs in Cambodia with continuous, sustainable projects, providing safe water, sanitation, education and maternal child and health. Supporting these WOD has been taking participants on combined cultural and volunteering trips to Cambodia since November 2011. World of Difference is a volunteering project of several Rotary Clubs. There are no paid employees. Project work employs local Cambodians and will be monitored continuously and sustainably year after year, tour after tour.

In November 2023, 19 Victoria Police Young Adult Legatees (aged 18-25) and 4 VPL Leaders went to Cambodia on an incredible personal development, humanitarian experience during a WOD tour. The group raised an outstanding $33,000 to support several humanitarian projects in villages surrounding Siem Reap. All funds raised went to directly to aiding the people of Cambodia. Rotary volunteers accompanied the Victoria Police Young Adult Legatees, with no fundraising money being used for administration. The tour not only changed the lives of impoverished Cambodians but also had a profound impact on the Victoria Police Young Adult Legatees.

RYDA - Road Safety Education in Schools
Oct 16, 2024 6:30 pm - 8:30 pm

This week we have Anton and Bob along to prsent to us on RYDA.

Formerly Rotary Youth Driver Awareness, RYDA is more than a program, it’s partnership which supports teachers on the journey as they provide their students with the tools and understanding they need to see themselves as active, responsible road citizens. Taking, largely, a student inquiry learning approach, RYDA becomes part of the school culture from the first to last day of a young person’s high school life. Beyond that, RYDA provides students with the tools, habits and motivation to take action and stay safe on our roads as both drivers and passengers throughout their lives.

Long term change will only be realised where educational materials support each-other and key messages are repeated over time. RYDA, a program professionally developed by leading learning organisation, Road Safety Education Limited (RSE), is designed to complement the high school curriculum.

RYDA features a highly engaging and memorable one-day workshop which front-loads students’ understanding of road safety. The workshop sessions are designed to be held in small classroom sized groups (approximately 25 students) and are led by a team of trained facilitators including Police, driving instructors and other community sector specialists.

RYDA is delivered to over 660 high schools throughout Australia and New Zealand, with an average of 40,000 students participating in the RYDA Program every year.
