FROM THE PRESIDENT'S DESK - 28 JANUARY, 2018
Welcome to our first edition of the Spoke 'n' Words for 2018. Sandi Tarant, our Editor extraordinaire will be back on board from next week with all the regular segments. In the meantime the B team have combined to deliver this short Bulletin.
This week marks the end of the holidays for thousands of school students and workplaces across the state and our roads are about to get busy once again with the thousands more who will be resuming work and life routines... The good news is we’ve made it through the festive season, hopefully rested and re-energised.

ROTARY INTERNATIONAL - PRESIDENTIAL MESSAGE FOR THE MONTH OF JANUARY 2018
Ian Riseley,
President 2017-18

In Rotary, our diversity is our strength. This idea dates back to the earliest years of our organization, when the classification system was first proposed. The idea behind it was simple: that a club with members who had a wide variety of backgrounds and abilities would be capable of better service than one without.

In the years since, the idea of diversity in Rotary has come to be defined more broadly. We have discovered that a club that truly represents its community is far better able to serve that community effectively. Looking ahead, it is clear how essential diversity will remain in Rotary: not only to strong service today, but to a strong organization in the future.

AUSTRALIA DAY CELEBRATIONS
On behalf of the Australia Day Committee, Geoff would like to thank everyone who contributed, in any way, for another great community event at Pioneers Park.

It was a very warm day, but thanks to the help of all the Rotarians and their partners, sons and daughters, the Inner Wheel ladies, the Rotaractors and their friends, who gave their time, our community was given the opportunity to celebrate Australia Day with Rotary in style.

Congratulations to Kay Morland, who was our Rotary Club Of Berwick’s Australia Day Ambassador for 2018.

Please pop 26th January in your diary for 2019, so that you can support Isobel and her team with our next Australia Day  (…and Gus, can we please put in our order now for a 25 degrees day with some cloud cover for next year).

Well done to all…and THANK YOU!
