And a word from the President

Well, since last week’s bulletin, there has been a bit happening within Rotary.
Firstly in association with the Scouting fraternity (Thanks to Diana Gomez-Fullaway and her connections) we participated in Clean Up Australia last Sunday. This is a picture of what we collected.

We were well represented and all Rotarians who turned up worked hard and had some fun as well.

Secondly we had our second Presentation Ball practice session at Berwick College and thanks to Gus & Louise Jackel for looking after things at the school. In terms of the Presentation Balls things are progressing very well. We have 57 couples practicing and getting ready for the 2 events and have close to 600 guest ticket sales already. Isobel Caulfield has volunteered to be MC on Wednesday 15 May which is really valued. If you are interested in taking on this key role on Thursday 16 May I would like to hear from you.

As always I’m looking for a little help with practice sessions. We need another 1 person to help out on Monday 25 March and we have no names at all against the schedule from Monday 15 April onwards (after school holidays). We just need a couple of hours (3.30 pm to 5.40 pm) on the following dates:15/4, 22/4, 29/4 & 13/5. I’ll let you all know further about our needs for practice at the venue.

Additionally, I spoke with David Cahill from our District 9820 during the week. He is putting together a dinner dance to be held on May 18 at Bunjil Place to recognise and celebrate the contributions of District 9820. He would like to arrange a very small committee to help put it together and again, if you can, and want to help please let me know.

Our meeting last Wednesday evening was a very engaging night and we were very fortunate (Thanks to Michelle’s work) to have Barb Scanlan from the Society of St Vincent de Paul let us know of the work being done locally to support folk within our community. We are very lucky to have people like Barb giving up their time to help those who need a leg up.

Next week we will hear from our own Wendy Moseley as she lets us know what and who lives behind her badge. I’m really looking forward to it.

That’s it for this week and I know I sound a little needy for continually asking for help but as with any team of volunteers, if we get things sorted early and we know who is on the hook for what it brings down everyone’s anxiety levels and we look and feel more like a well - oiled machine. So far, I’ve not had any responses from requests within our bulletin and some would argue that if I keep doing the same thing and expecting a different result, I’m somewhat a fool. My email address is andersonfam@internode.on.net and my phone number is 0418 207 421 so please help make me feel a little less foolish.

International Women’s’ Day

The theme for International Women's Day 2024 is "Inspire Inclusion". This theme emphasizes the importance of understanding, valuing, and actively seeking out the inclusion of women and girls. When we inspire others to appreciate and embrace women's inclusion, we contribute to a better world. Additionally, when women themselves are inspired to be included, they experience a sense of belonging, relevance, and empowerment. Let's collectively work towards forging a more inclusive world for women by promoting diversity in race, age, ability, faith, body image, and identity. 🌟💪🌍
Organizations, groups, and individuals worldwide can play a part in inspiring inclusion. Here are some ways to #InspireInclusion:
  1. Economic Empowerment: Support women's economic empowerment.
  1. Talent Development: Recruit, retain, and develop female talent.
  1. Leadership and Decision-Making: Encourage women and girls to take leadership roles.
  1. STEM and Business: Promote women's participation in STEM fields and business.
  1. Health and Education: Help women and girls make informed decisions about health and provide access to quality education.
  1. Arts and Sports: Elevate women and girls' participation and achievements in creative arts and sports.
Remember, everyone everywhere can contribute to inspiring inclusion. Let's make International Women's Day a day of collective activism and celebration, advancing women's equality worldwide! 💜🌸👩‍👩‍👧‍👧

As Rotarians I encourage everyone to think about what we can do individually and collectively to contribute to any of the 6 pillars above+

WHY IS IT IMPORTANT TO USE THE CORRECT ROTARY BRANDING?
Consistency: Consistent branding helps build recognition and trust among members, partners, and the public. When Rotary clubs and districts use the correct branding, it reinforces a unified identity and strengthens the global Rotary brand.

Professionalism: Proper branding reflects professionalism and attention to detail. It demonstrates that Rotary clubs and districts are part of a well-organized, reputable organization committed to service and excellence.

Clarity of Message: Clear and consistent branding ensures that Rotary's message is effectively communicated to audiences worldwide. By using the correct branding, Rotary clubs and districts can convey their mission, values, and activities clearly and accurately.

Protection of Trademarks: Rotary logos, symbols, and other brand elements are protected trademarks owned by Rotary International. Adhering to the correct branding guidelines helps protect these trademarks and prevents unauthorized use or misuse, preserving Rotary's brand integrity.

Global Recognition: Rotary is a global organization with millions of members and supporters in communities around the world. Using the correct branding ensures that Rotary's presence is recognizable and consistent across diverse cultures and languages.

Support from Rotary International: Rotary International provides resources, support, and guidance to clubs and districts to help them effectively promote their activities and projects. Adhering to branding guidelines ensures that clubs and districts can access these resources and maximize their impact.

And just so you know, our Club has been doing a great job promoting our Club and promoting Rotary by dressing in our Rotary branded uniform and getting out in public!
