Christmas Celebrations
77 Rotarians, family and friends took part in Christmas celebrations at Jason's Restaurant at Bradford Estate Winery in Upper Beaconsfield, on Wednesday 12 December.

A terrific night full of festive cheer, was had by all who attended.

We even had a visit from the "Man in Red", who sounded very much like David Nutter.

Everyone was particularly pleased to meet 4-month old Georgie Elizabeth Marshall, who was attending her first Rotary event supported by her proud parents, Jen and Steve.

Georgie was on her best behaviour and won the hearts of all who met her.

The noisy gathering was called to order by PP Adrian Funston (Funno), to allow President Geoff to speak.

Geoff reminded everyone that the Carols by Candlelight event would be held on Saturday 15 December and an Australia Day briefing would be provided at the next Club meeting on Wednesday 19 December.

Geoff thanked everyone attending the celebration and offered special thanks to his wife Di, who had organised the function.
Kraan's New Year Barbeque
Please note that we will have our first gathering of 2019 at a barbeque at Jack and Ann Kraan's home at 9-10 Garden Court in Narre Warren South, on Wednesday 9 January.

The barbeque will be open to family and friends.

While Jack and Ann provide the excellent venue, you should bring your own food, drinks, cutlery and chairs.

It would also be beneficial, if you could bring a salad and/or a dessert for group sharing.

We look forward to seeing you there.

Rotary International Student Exchange Program

Congratulations to Tara, our outbound exchange student.

Tara, along with the other Rotary District 9820 students received their blazers, badges and other goodies at a briefing on Saturday 8 December, in Mornington.

Proud families and Rotarians heard their presentations and their hopes for the coming year.

Tara will be a great ambassador for not only our club, but for Rotary International and Australia, during her year living in America.

Rotary Youth Science Forum (RYSF)

Our sponsored student, Upani Mapala-Gamez, has now received her draft itinery and travel details for the National Youth Science Forum, to be held in Brisbane from 9 - 20 January 2019.

She expects to receive the final information next week and is really looking forward to the experience.

We will have a presentation from Upani early next year about her experience in the program and its' outcomes.

Berwick & District Benevolent Society

On Sunday 9 December, David Collyer, Bob Lay AM and Sam McCurdy attended a service at the Cardinia Presbyterian Church.

The small church was packed for the service, which had a Christmas theme.

The congregation support the "Society's" community activities by providing a generous donation at this time each year.

This year was no exception with David being presented with a donation of approximately $1,850.

In response, David thanked the congregation for their generousity and continued support.

2019 Multi-District Conference

Registrations for the first ever Victorian Multi-District Conference are going well.

There are 4 Districts represented and over 1,000 Rotarians going, so that has to be an opportunity to network, inspire and connect!

The conference will be held at the Melbourne Convention Centre from 15-17 February 2019 and the provisional program is provided below.
