The room was BUZZING
This week in Rotary, two passionate men talked about being backyard beekeepers. Our own Laury Gordyn and Tony Brosinsky talked about the ins and outs of beekeeping, but there was a current of nature meeting technology bubbling along during the presentation.

As some members might know, Laury is a bit of a tinkerer in electronics, coding and data management. He enjoys solving complicated problems using hardware, sensors and code to then provide simplified data, all neatly presented on a Google Sheet up there in the cloud somewhere.

The talk was very informative and included a sampling of the end product.

Working the floor

It is always great when a Rotary member takes on a challenge and makes it his (or her) own. This is what Trevor Watson is doing with our number one fundraising project, Art Screen Hire.

Our Art Screen Hire business provides a good deal of fellowship out on the job as well as a good deal of income for the club. The delivery and pickup crew positions are open to all members of the club with Trevor balancing the numbers depending on the job. It is important to not to have too many people as not enough. Personal time is valuable, so everyone goes home feeling satisfied of a job well done.

Trevor has two good mentors, Laury Gordyn and Gus Dominguez who managed the business before Trevor. Trevor and Laury are now on a mission to grow the business by finding new customers through mail outs and Facebook.

Well done Trevor and the crew for making things happen! Like and share to help grow our efforts. https://www.facebook.com/ArtScreenHire

Public Image Task Force

Public Image is the responsibility of all club members. It is important that the public does not get confused about who we are when they see us out and about. I use the photo above often because it shows us as our usual enthusiastic selves, but these photos are rare. I hope to get an updated version on our next tree-planting day on the 16th of July so please wear your Rotary tops.

But Public Image doesn't stop there. I need people to help and learn about the website, bulletin and Facebook. Photographers, video nuts, story writers and storytellers. Contributors and communicators. People that hold our community together with our story and bring that story to new people so they can learn about us.

Being part of the Public Image Task Force is not a hard thing to do. Many hands make light work and great ideas come from good conversations. Get on board and let's have a chat at a weekly meeting sometime soon.
