With the festive season upon us, on Wednesday the 13th, members, families and friends of the Rotary Club of Berwick including the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick, converged onto the Forest Edge Restaurant in Gembrook for the traditional Christmas Celebratory Dinner. Set in idyllic surrounds, Forest Edge provided the perfect backdrop for a truly wonderful experience for all in attendance.

Forest Edge was filled with the spirit of Christmas and good old Rotary fellowship and cheer. Thank you to the 80+ people who joined in the fun and made it all possible!!  A Big thank you also to Di Double, our Social Coordinator, who worked so hard to put it all together. It was a great success!!

Speaking of success… on Saturday the 16th of December some 4,000 carollers descended upon Edwin Flack Reserve in Berwick for the 5th edition of the Rotary Club of Berwick Carols by Candlelight event. By all accounts it was the best ever attendance registered at any of our Carols. In the lead up to the day Past President (PP) Gus Dominguez, Chairman of the Carols Organising Committee, had asked for all hands to be on deck and Rotarians responded in numbers. The continued support and participation of the ladies from the Inner Wheel Club of Berwick was greatly appreciated. Thank you to Gus and his team and all Rotarians who have helped make this event a success. Special shout outs to Steve Marshall and his friends Rob and Reece who toiled from 2pm till 11pm to deliver a safe and family friendly event. Thank you to our local CFA for providing Santa and his elves (Em and Kat) with the perfect sleigh (fire engine)… The fireworks capped off a fantastic programme in near perfect weather conditions!!

Apart from the warm welcome that was extended to Santa and his cohorts, I also had the honour to welcome a visiting Rotarian at the Carols, in the person of PP Raj Patil from the Rotary Club of Jaysingpur in India. To commemorate his impromptu visit, Raj presented our Club with a banner from his home Club. Thank you Raj for taking the time with your niece and your brother-in-law to visit us and we hope you enjoyed the Carols.

Our next gathering will be at the final Farmers and Craft Market for 2017 on Saturday the 23rd of December and Cheryl Zuhlsdorff our Market Manager and her team have something special planned for the day. Rotarians are reminded that our final meeting for the year will be a breakfast meeting at the market. Hope to see all there!!

I hope you enjoy this week’s short edition of the bulletin with all the happy memories expertly captured in picture by Di Double and Sandi Tarant.
