David Nutter provided a summary of the Royal Flying Doctor Service (RFDS) fund-raising Golf Day, which was held on Friday 23 November at the Cardinia-Beaconshills Golf Links in Upper Beaconsfield.

He thanked the Club for providing the gourmet BBQ for the participants, as their contribution to the event.  The gourmet sausages provided by Alf Giesen's son from the Nar Nar Goon butchery, proved to be very popular.

Rotarians Bob Lay AM, PP Mark Caulfield, Alf Giesen and Russell Dunn manned the BBQ and did a great job.

Due to the appalling weather conditions, the shotgun start to the competition was delayed until 1:30 pm and most teams only completed 9 holes, rather than 18.

Regardless of the terrible conditions, the event was considered to be successful in that it raised $30,000 for the RFDS.  This was due to generous sponsorship, good raffle prizes and some excellent auction items.  Points to be considered for our own Charity Golf day.

David advised that he is currently preparing his car for the 2019 Outback Trek to raise more funds for the RFDS.  The Outback Trek has already raised $28 million over the 20 years that it has been run. With 2019 being its' 30th year, they hope to achieve $30 million.
