Woo hoo, I made it through my first meeting as President and what a busy meeting it was. We celebrated the induction of Penny Williams, who I know won't just be a good Rotarian, she will be a great Rotarian!
We were joined by Aleisha and her Dad Chris. Aleisha is a year 12 student from Alkira College, studying sociology. Aleisha is doing a project on volunteering and wanted to focus her project on Rotary. Aleisha interviewed a number of our members to find out why they volunteer with Rotary. It was lovely to see a young person interested in the world of Rotary and what we do.
I had the opportunity to share with the club a few little changes for this year. One change will be the return of the role of Fellowship. For new members that may not be aware (or some that may have forgotten) each week one person will fill the role of Fellowship. This person arrives earlier to the meeting to make sure our club sponsor banners are up, the fines spoon and gong are on the table. There is a microphone and Rotary theme banner on the lectern. At 6:30pm they greet members, guests and visitors as they arrive in a friendly and welcoming Rotary way. If you are nominated for Fellowship and are unable to make the meeting, it is your responsibility to find another member to cover for you.
On Saturday night, Steve and I along with Eric, Wendy and Dave enjoyed a lovely night at the Pakenham Racecourse to see the induction of Peter Behm as the next District 9815 District Governor.
This week we have Michelle Richardson, a passionate Lymphology practitioner who will share with us how our lymphatic system holds the key to reducing pain, inflammation, fluid retention, and more.
Chairperson: Jack Kraan
Fellowship: Funno
Don't forget you have 3 more weeks to bring in your winter jackets for our jacket collection for Casey North Community Information Support Services (CNCISS). Please give all clean and good condition used winter coats to Wendy. Wendy will deliver these to CNCISS at the end of July to be handed out to members of the community who need an extra layer to keep them warm this winter.
Thanks,
Jen
