President's Ramblings
Last week we did something a little different with our vocational visit to Mercedes Benz Berwick. Aaron and the team put on a spread of finger food for us and we had a chance to look though the vast array of cars they had on display. We are looking forward to this be the start of an ongoing relationship with MBB.

Our annual Christmas Collections have kicked off again this year. We have collection cages/boxes in place at a number of local schools already and will soon be placing cages in the shopping centres at Berwick Marketplace and Eden Rise. All of the non-perishable food items and toys collected will be passed on to Casey North Community Information and Support Services for distribution to families in need throughout the local community.

This week Jack Kraan and I had the pleasure of representing the Rotary Club of Berwick at a retirement function for outgoing Nossal High School principal, Roger Page. Roger was the foundation Principal of Nossal High School, having started with an empty field to opening the state’s first co-educational select entry high school in 2010.  Roger’s contribution to education throughout a career spanning almost 50 years also saw him awarded the Medal of the Order of Australia (OAM) in the recent Kings Birthday Honours. The Rotary Club of Berwick has had a close association with Nossal High School since its foundation with Jack, Kraan, Sam McCurdy and myself service as Rotary representative members on the school council.

As you read this, Michele and I are away having a short break in Sydney as we celebrate our 30th Wedding Anniversary. An opportunity to partake of some sightseeing, fine dining and generally relaxing as well as celebrating.

At next week’s meeting Gary Castricum will be presenting to us on his experience in operating a Not-for-Profit organisation based on his unique position as chairman of Windermere Child and Family Services.
