Welcome to our vibrant and relaxed Rotary Club, where community spirit thrives alongside a sense of ease and camaraderie. Picture a place where laughter mingles with purpose and friendships are forged through shared experiences and meaningful endeavours.
This week we invited Sherly Galbraith to our club to share with us her journey from living in Indonesia in an unhappy home trapped by domestic violence. But she was brave and left this home with her children to a safer, happier life. Her story is not uncommon. Her mission now is to share her story to bring awareness to the number of migrant women living in unsafe homes, facing similar challenges. Sherly hopes by speaking up and sharing her story, others like her will also find the courage to find a better life. What an inspiration!
Thank You:
A big thank you to Isobel, Penny and Di S for attending Nossal High School on Thursday 21 August to assist the school to run their mock interviews for the Year 11 students. Isobel reported that the school was grateful for our club's assistance. The day was a valuable day for all the students involved.
Thank you to Mark and Isobel for donating a camera to the club for our club photographer Penny to use to document the club's activities and meetings.
This Week:
This week we will hear another amazing story or courage and hope as we hear from Shannon Garrett, a local who was diagnosed with cancer, despite his own health battle, he has set himself the goal to raise $100,000 for children's brain cancer and raise awareness of this cancer. He will share his recent challenge of completing the Tour de Mont Blanc walk in July to help raise funds.
