Club leaders are encouraged to emphasise to club members and prospective members the value and significance of regular attendance.
Please note, Rotary rules on attendance are basically still the same as always, ie members are required to attend Rotary a minimum of 50%.
However, Rotary’s definition of what is included in attendance has been modified.
So what is counted in Rotary attendance?

When a member,
  • is present for at least 60 percent of a regular meeting
  • attends a makeup at another Club meeting or allowable excuse at least 14 Days Before or After a regular Club Meeting.Allowable attendance includes:Another Rotary Club meeting, Rotary business (school awards night), meeting at Interact of Rotaract Club, Provisional Club meeting, E Club meeting, Rotary Convention, Rotary Conference, district or Zone meetings, District committee meetings.Plus more!
  • is present at the usual time and place of a regular meeting of another club for the purpose of attending such meeting, but that club is not meeting at that time or place;
  • attends and participates in a club service project or a club-sponsored community event or meeting authorised by the board.Eg.Farmers Market, Australia Day, Vocational Visit
  • attends a board meeting or, if authorised by the board, a meeting of a service committee to which the member is assigned
  • participates through a club web site in an interactive activity requiring an average of 30 minutes of participation.
  • engaged in Rotary business duly authorised by the board which precludes attendance at the meeting
The 85 rule!   This can apply when the age of member is 65 and above and the aggregate of the member’s years of age and years of membership in one or more clubs is 85 years.   The member must notify the club secretary in writing of their desire to be excused from attendance and the board has approved.

The above does make the job of attendance officer a bit more complex but shows the importance of attendance gathering at all Club projects – not just for insurance reasons!
In the end the Board enforces the constitution of the Club and may rule on matters in special circumstances in regard to individual membership issues.
