Well last Wednesday’s meeting was certainly jam packed and front and centre we welcomed Wendy Moseley to the club as our newest member and I’m sure everyone joins me in congratulating Wendy and welcoming her to Berwick Rotary and Wendy I’m so glad you’re family were able to be there to support you.Our friends from Inner Wheel were also very welcome guests and it was great to hear from Roz about what’s been keeping them busy including their Oaks Day function on 9 November and upcoming progressive dinner. I think we should get closer to our friends in Inner Wheel.
Great also to hear from Brian who gave us a summary and feedback to a project we support. It was a great way to close the loop.
We have supported Casey North CISS (CNCISS) Christmas Program for quite some time and again this year we will have food cages in supermarket complexes and schools for pick-up and delivery to CNCISS.
In addition to this I believe we should add a little more and indeed put together our own support package for the program. Included in this week’s newsletter are a couple of guides to acceptable and much-needed donations and I encourage everyone to bring along your contribution to AGM on 29 November and we will deliver a package to our friends at CNCISS to help folk who are doing it harder than we are.
Lastly for those who weren’t able to make the meeting on Wednesday night, I want to give a little shout-out to the following:
- Rosemarie Hughes who picked up silver and Bronze medals at the recent Masters Games in Adelaide in the Dragon Boats events. Well done Rosemary and the new bling looked terrific.
- Eric Boon (and I know you might not necessarily be overjoyed with this shout-out but too bad, so sad) for making some very necessary repairs and updates to our trailer fleet. Thanks Eric, this type of selfless help keeps us going and is very appreciated.
- Russell Fellows (yep, recognition is not something you seek but you deserve it) for your help and friendly support in keeping all our programs alive with friendly encouragement, support and provision of wisdom. Russ, you do make a difference.
I also wanted to update you on our Langmore Community Garden, which Geoff spoke about on Wednesday. Things are skipping along nicely with the scheduling of works and our working bee is slotted in for Saturday 11th November. Please put some time away in your calendar to help out if you can.
Next Wednesday we have the community’s friends, the CFA coming along to give us an update on all things fire safety and you are encouraged to come along and please don’t hesitate to bring along a friend.
